The Philosopher Ceramic Pot - Third Drawer Down + David Shrigley

70.00

The Philosopher will hold your plants, your flowers, your soup or your kitchen utensils, but not your hand - he's just a ceramic head after all. What an exciting place David Shrigley's brain is to dream up this planter for an exhibition - now lovingly adapted so you too can take the Philosopher home!

About the Artist
Third Drawer Down Studio first collaborated with British artist David Shrigley in 2007. Shrigley came into prominence through his drawings, publications and sculptural works. His drawings have a kind of throwaway beauty featuring monster children, idiots, aliens and bad parents. Full of twisted lists and exchanges, Shrigley is a Third Drawer Down favourite both for his angst about modern living, his everyday disappointments and his endless cynicism.

Third Drawer Down

Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, Third Drawer Down has collaborated with some of the most influential artists of our time, translating their works into gift and homeware collections with an uncompromising dedication to artistic integrity, functionality, and accessibility.

Originally established as a project producing limited edition artist tea towels as prints-on-linen, Third Drawer Down has grown into a global business, launching the United States company in fall 2018. Third Drawer Down’s superbly crafted artist-driven gifts and homewares are brimming with irony and intelligence working with the greatest artists on the planet.

The studio has collaborated with more than 200 international artists including Louise Bourgeois, Judy Chicago, Guerrilla Girls, Alex Katz, Yayoi Kusama, Chris Ofili, Robert Rauschenberg, Cindy Sherman, Kiki Smith, David Salle, David Shrigley, and Mickalene Thomas.

Currently, women artists represent 65% of the Third Drawer Down Artist Collections, and it continues to inspire its customers to challenge gender, racial, and social barriers.

Their flagship store is located in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
